My name is Elizabeth Chavez. I am a mother, a sister, a daughter, a photographer and a small business owner. My goals are to be happy, healthy, a fantastic mother, a wonderful friend and a person that is helping make the world a better place one small step at a time.

The concept for Amakua Market really started with my son Bradyn. He is the center of my world and I want to raise him by example, I want to show him that even though life is crazy and we are super busy, there is a way to give back, you can use your talents to earn a living and help the world while you are doing it.

Our ‘Amakua Market’ comes from the Hawaiian word Aumakua. I learned about this concept years ago on a surf trip to Maui. Hawaiian legend is full of stories about Aumakua or ancestral guardian spirits. Many Hawaiians believed that Aumakua would guard people, animals, fishes, plants and protect ‘ohana’ (families & villages). Isn’t that a great concept? To feel confident the things are being ‘guarded’, the people near and far, the wildlife, the earth, the ‘ohana’. That’s what I want to do with this business. ‘Guard’ or take care of things, do my part to make the world a better place. The Market is an important component of this vision. This is where we will generate revenue to run the business, to earn a living and to support social causes. My commitment to you is that I will run this business responsibly. I will make good, ethical choices and will ensure that together we create positive environmental and social impact every single day.
