I am super freaking emotional about this birthday. It feels like such a momentous accomplishment!

While I would have never admitted it in the moment… There were days (weeks really) this year when I wasn’t entirely confident that we were going to get another birthday with this precious angel of mine.

And now. Now. He’s running and he’s playing and he’s growing. Like actually gaining weight! CRAZY – I know!!!!

I used to beg time to be still so that I could savor his fat little baby legs and belly laughs. The benchmarks of childhood were an unwelcome reminder that he was growing up.

Not anymore – now these benchmarks smell of sweet success. They remind me of what I could have lost and didn’t.

Thank you all for the love and support that you have given us this year. We needed it so desperately.
